4th District Santa Barbara County Supervisor Joni Gray confirmed Wednesday to KSBY that she has conceded the race against challenger Orcutt farmer Peter Adam.

She has held that position for 14 years. But, she said she's excited to focus on law, and feels she can still help the community that way.

Gray said she called Adam on Wednesday morning at 7:30am to congratulate him. She said she offered to help him through the transition. She said he was very gracious, and they were both grateful to each other that their campaigns were positive and they never "got in each other's faces".

Gray said she's disappointed that she can't finish the things she's done for the 4th District, which is in the southern part of Santa Maria and all of Orcutt and Lompoc. Her term ends at the end of the year.
