Los Angeles police shoot man armed with a sword

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Police shot and wounded a man who charged at them with a sword in South Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Times reports that officers were called about an assault with a deadly weapon around 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the 6600 block of South Main Street.

Police say a Taser did not stop the man, who was carrying a 24-inch sword. At least one officer fired shots.

The man was taken to a hospital. No officers were injured.
