A brown pelican is now safe after Paso Robles Police transported him to the coast.
Around 1:00 p.m. Saturday The Paso Robles Police Department received a call of a crane on the side of a roadway.
It was 92 degrees outside and police say he looked very out of his element.
As they tried to help him, the pelican decided to perch on top of their patrol cars to cool off.
They slowly drove him to a parking lot to get him out of traffic as he held on to the roof.
He was transported to the coast where it was cooler by Pacific Wildlife Rescue.
