The Morro Bay girls basketball team finished out Los Padres League play with a dominant 64-18 win at home against Lompoc. The three-time defending LPL champions extended their winning streak to 27-straight league games. Cal Poly recruit Hannah Gilbert led the Pirates with 28 points and 12 rebounds on Senior night. Nicki Bloom and Jerrica Crosby tallied 4 assists each. The Pirates are 12-0 in league and 19-3 overall. They finish the regular season with a non-league game on Friday against Mission Prep. The Lady Braves dropped to 4-7 in league.
The Templeton girls needed overtime, but edged Nipomo 64-57. The Eagles improved to 9-2 in league and 19-4 for the season. Marissa Torres led the Eagles with 30 points. Mari Stewart recorded another double-double with 29 points and 26 rebounds. She added 7 steals. The Eagles finish the regular season Friday at Santa Ynez. The Titans, who are 7-4 in league, finish with a game at Cabrillo. Nipomo has already earned a spot in the playoffs.
The Templeton boys won their seventh-straight game with a dominant 57-34 win at Nipomo. Will Mehring led the Eagles with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Andy Garretson added 11 points and Jackson Wheeler had 19 points and 3 assists.
Kaileb Mendez led the Titans with 12 points. Nipomo is now 1-10 in league and 2-23 overall. The Titans' season ends Friday at league champion Cabrillo. The 10-1 Conqs were off on Wednesday.
Templeton will take its 8-3 league mark and 14-9 overall record to Santa Ynez for its league finale on Friday.
