LPL Basketball: Templeton sweeps Santa Ynez, Cabrillo boys and MB girls win

Mari Stewart and Megan Hattar combined to score 51 points to lead the Templeton girls to a 73-35 win at Santa Ynez on Friday in their Los Padres League finales.

The Eagles finished 10-2 in league for the second year in a row and 21-4 overall. Santa Ynez fell to 0-12 in league and 1-25.

Stewart led the way with 28 points and 15 rebounds. Hattar added 23 points with 6 assists and Marissa Torres chipped in 11 points.

The Templeton boys completed the sweep of the Pirates with a 54-30 home win over Santa Ynez. The Eagles head into the playoffs on an eight game winning streak and second place finish in the LPL. They are 15-9 for the season.

Sophomore Aiden Sarbeck led the Eagles with 10 points. Andy Garretson and Alex Elterman had 8 points apiece. Jackson Wheeler had 7 points and 5 assists for Templeton.

The LPL champion Cabrillo boys ended the regular season with a 60-32 win at Nipomo. The game was tied 11-11 after the first quarter, but Cabrillo outscored the Titans 19-7 in the second and 20-8 in the third quarter. Chad Brodhead led the Conquistadores with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Michael Woodard added 11 points and Joshua Harris scored 12 for Cabrillo. The Conqs ended league play 11-1 and 17-9 overall.

The Titans' season came to a close with a 1-11 league mark and 2-23 record. Luke Nickelson led the Titans with 7 points.

The Morro Bay girls survived a scare from Mission Prep with a 40-33 victory in a non-league game. The game was tied 25-25 after three quarters before the Pirates outscored the Royals 15-8 in the final eight minutes. Sierra Schwellenbach had 5 of those points for the Pirates. Cal Poly bound Hannah Gilbert led the three-time Los Padres League champions with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Carli Watt added 9 points for Mission.

The Royals were led by Connor Storlie, who poured in 14 points. Noelle Laird added 6 points for the Royals, who finished the season 5-17.

The Pirates improved to 21-3 after a perfect 12-0 run through league play. Morro Bay will host a first round playoff game next week. The CIF playoff brackets will be released on Sunday.
