Three Pirates scored 10 or more points as the Morro Bay girls basketball team won its 22nd-straight Los Padres League game with a 49-22 victory at Nipomo Wednesday. Hannah Gilbert, the Cal Poly recruit, led the way with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Nikki Machado and Jerrica Crosby each had 10 points for the Lady Pirates, who improved to 7-0 in league and 13-3 overall.
The Titans fell to 4-3 in league and 10-10 on the season. Morro Bay hosts Cabrillo on Friday, while and Nipomo visits Santa Ynez.
The Templeton girls remained one game back of Morro Bay with a 70-58 home win over Lompoc. The game was tied after three quarters before the Eagles soared ahead for good. The Eagles are 6-1 in league and 17-3 on the year. Lompoc fell to 2-5 in league and 7-12 overall.
Marissa Torres led the Eagles with 20 points and was 8 for 9 from the free throw line. Mari Stewart recorded another double-double with 20 points and 17 rebounds. Megan Hattar poured in 19 points and dished out 5 assists for Templeton.
The Eagles are at Santa Maria on Friday.
The Cabrillo girls routed last place Santa Ynez 57-31 on Wednesday. Cabrillo is now 4-3 in league and the Pirates fell to 0-7. Sophomore Gaby Baumgardner led the Conquistadores with 19 points, 4 steals and 4 assists. Fellow sophomore Fallon Wynne added 6 points, 6 rebounds and 6 blocked shots.
