Lung Cancer patients may have a strain of HPV

A virus known to lead to Cervical Cancer may also trigger some forms of Lung Cancer.

Researchers from Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia examined tissue samples from lung cancer patients. They found close to 6% of patients had the Human Papillomavirus or HPV.

Certain strains of HPV are linked to Cervical Cancer. Researchers say this new evidence may someday help target treatments for HPV related lung tumors.
