The Santa Barbara County Main Jail was locked down Friday after what the sheriff's office is describing as a "disturbance."
The Sheriff's Office says the disturbance happened at about 11 a.m. in the exercise yard. At the time there were 36 inmates in the yard and one was taken to the hospital for minor injuries, the sheriff's office said.
No staff members were hurt.
The lockdown is part of standard procedures and is expected to continue into the weekend while staff looks into the cause of the incident.
The lockdown is expected to interrupt the weekend visitation schedule. Anyone planning to visit an inmate at the jail this weekend should call the jail at 681-4260 to check on the visitation status.
