Court proceedings have been suspended for the man accused of attacking two sex offenders and then robbing a gas station in Grover Beach.
Twenty-four-year-old David Griffin appeared in a San Luis Obispo County courtroom this morning after being arrested last Friday.
Proceedings came to a halt when Griffin's mental state was called into question by his attorney.
Judge Michael Duffy ordered Griffin to undergo a psychiatric evaluation by two appointed doctors.
The parties are due back in court next month to hear the findings.
