A judged ruled Thursday that John Woody Jr. was sane at the time he stabbed a man to death at a Paso Robles laundromat.
John Woody, 30, will be sentenced on December 20th for first-degree murder. He was previously convicted by a jury. There was a second phase to determine if Woody was sane at the time of the stabbing.
Back in March of 2011, Woody stabbed Martin McWIlliams, 46, 22 times, killing him.
Police say the 6-foot-6 defendant overpowered the much shorter McWilliams and repeatedly stabbed him before fleeing. He was arrested the following day.
