Santa Maria Police say a man was taken to jail after a jewelry store was robbed in the city early Friday morning.
It happened shortly after 3 a.m. at Norris Jewelry in the 700 block of E. Main Street.
Police say an officer was nearby and heard the alarm coming from the business.
When the officer arrived, he noticed the glass on the front door had been shattered, and then saw a green car speeding away from a nearby parking lot.
Additional officers arrived to help in the chase.
Officers found the car parked in the 400 block of S. East Street and found the suspect, Paul Hahn, 29, from Lompoc, in the car with a large glass display case containing many gold jewelry items.
Hahn was arrested and booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail for possession of stolen property and commercial burglary.
Bail is set at $20,000.
