Man arrested for plumbing scam, using fake business names

A plumber from Oxnard is in jail for alleged elder abuse.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputies say Albert Solano, 46, was arrested on July 26 by Oxnard Police when they discovered he was illegally using the names of businesses that were not his.

An investigation by the Contractors State License Board, the Santa Barbara Co. District Attorney's Office, and Sheriff's Office found Solano scammed seniors, and they fear there may be more victims.

In the cases being investigated, Solano has a pattern of giving an estimate, over-charging for a job, threatening to place a lien on on the property if a payment is not received, and leaving work unfinished.

The Sheriff's Office says Solano has used several company names: Dr. Drain, Dr. Drain Sewer Repair, Dr. Drain Plumbing and Sewer Cleaning, American One Plumbing, Day and Night Rooter Man, Rooter Dr. Inc. and AR Construction.

If you have any information about Solano, or think you are a victim, contact the SB Co. Sheriff's Office at 681-4150.
