A man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly shooting a dog with a pellet gun in California Valley.
San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Deputies said the suspect, Hector Sanchez, 38, shot a dog that a woman was walking near his home on the 14000 block of Del Rosa Road. The woman told Deputies she heard a gunshot sound, before her dog "yelped and spun around". Deputies said she heard a second shot and her dog continued to yelp.
Deputies said the woman told them she saw a man, later identified as Sanchez, crouching nearby and confronted him. He allegedly threatened the woman and fled the scene.
Deputies said that when they found Sanchez he resisted arrest. He has been charged with terrorist threats, cruelty to animals and resisting arrest.
The dog sustained two pellet gun wounds and is recovering at home after being treated by a local veterinarian.
Sanchez was released from jail Thursday afternoon after posting $50,000 bail.
