SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - A man accused in the disappearance of a 15-year-old Northern California girl has pleaded not guilty to murder and kidnapping charges.
Antolin Garcia-Torres entered his pleas during an arraignment hearing in Santa Clara County Superior Court on Thursday. The hearing comes two days after a criminal grand jury indicted the 22-year-old on charges of murdering and kidnapping Sierra LaMar nearly two years ago.
A hearing has been set for April 16 to set a trial date and to hear motions to keep the grand jury transcript sealed.
Garcia-Torres was arrested in May, 2012 after authorities found Sierra's DNA in his car and his DNA was found in her handbag.
Sierra, who remains missing, was last seen by her family leaving her Morgan Hill home for school in March, 2012. Authorities believe she was kidnapped while walking and then killed.
