Man charged with murdering Oceano teen enters not guilty plea

Man charged in Oceano teen's murder pleads not guilty

The Santa Maria man accused of killing an Oceano teenager in a drive-by shooting last November entered a not guilty plea Wednesday.

Armando Yepez, 21, was arrested back in May and charged with murder for the death of Gabriel Salgado, 17. Yepez is also charged with enhancements for committing a crime for the benefit of a criminal street gang and participating in a criminal street gang.

Yepez is being held on $1 million bail. The defense argued Wednesday to have his bail reduced, but a judge denied the reduction.

Yepez will appear in court again on June 20 for a pre-preliminary hearing.
