The Santa Barbara County District Attorney's Office has convicted a man for construction fraud.
Mario Serrano, 54, was arrested in May.
An investigation started when several homeowners filed complaints saying Serrano took money from them and performed sub-standard work on their homes.
The investigation found Serrano spent large sums of money from the jobs at local casinos.
In addition to not having a contractor's license and not providing workers' compensation insurance to his employees, Serrano also failed to report nearly $175,000 in income to the Franchise Tax Board.
