Man dies after crash in Santa Maria

One man is killed and another person seriously injured after a crash in Santa Maria.

A spokesperson for Santa Barbara County Fire says the crash happened just before 9:10 a.m. at the intersection of East Betteravia and Philbric Road.

A crew on scene says that a blue Ford Ranger appears to have driven through a stop sign on Philbric Road, and then collided with a commercial fuel truck pulling a trailer.

One passenger in the truck was transported to Marian Medical Center with moderate injuries. The 79-year-old driver did not survive.

The man's identity has not been released, but crews say he is from Santa Maria.
