The Bakersfield man found guilty of second-degree murder for a deadly crash on Highway 46 was sentenced Wednesday to 15 years to life in state prison.
Jerad Cross, 31, was driving under the influence of drugs in a construction zone outside of Paso Robles on November 7, 2012, and didn't notice cars in front of him had stopped.
He slammed into the back of a pickup truck.
The driver of the truck, Richard Gamez, 45, of Clovis, was killed.
Cross was also found guilty of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving with a suspended license, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A restitution hearing is scheduled for March 19, 2014.
