We now know the name of the man killed while trying to cross Highway 101 in Santa Barbara Saturday night.

It happened just after 10p.m. in the northbound lanes of Highway 101 at Las Positas. Officers say 22-year-old Ricardo Ivan Madrigal of Santa Barbara was attending an event at the Earl Warren Showgrounds when he got into a fight, left the showgrounds, and then tried to cross the highway. He was then hit by several vehicles.

The highway was backed up for miles after officers shut down the northbound lanes to investigate the incident. They say the drivers of the cars that hit Madrigal were not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
