Hospital officials say the man involved in a motorcycling accident Saturday afternoon is in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

53-year-old Klaus Strobel of San Luis Obispo was driving his motorcycle on Santa Rosa Creek Road Saturday when he ran over some loose gravel and lost control.

Officials say he slid into the shoulder of the road and onto some rocks along the creek. They say he was ejected from the motorcycle and landed on large rocks in the creek bed.

He sustained major injuries and was transported by helicopter to an area hospital.
