Man in stable condition after early-morning stabbing

A man was taken to the hospital early Sunday morning after police say he was stabbed in Santa Maria.
It happened in the 100 block of East Portland.
Santa Maria Police say around 1:45 a.m., Michael Cortez Jimenez, 22, from Santa Maria, was confronted by several unknown Hispanic men.
They say Jimenez was stabbed by an unknown object after a fight broke out.
He is in stable condition.
The incident is under investigation, and anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Santa Maria Police Department.
