A man out on bail is back behind bars and facing new charges. Arroyo Grande Police arrested Aaron Kirby, 35, Wednesday morning following a traffic stop on Brittany Street.
Police were on the lookout for Kirby after receiving information he may have been armed.
An officer spotted Kirby driving in the area of South Elm Street just before 11:00 am and pulled him over. During a search of the truck Kirby was driving, officers say they found a .22 caliber rifle in a trash bag and a suspicious container. The container was a plastic can with a galvanized pipe and cap inside.
Officers secured the area and called in the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Bomb Squad, which took the container out of the area to be examined. There is no word at this time whether the container was dangerous.
Police arrested Kirby on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and committing crimes while out on bail.
In February, Kirby was arrested in connection with a series of break-ins at homes in San Luis Obispo. Kirby also had previous arrests on burglary and weapons charges.
