LOS ANGELES (AP) A 25-year-old man has pleaded guilty to murdering his parents and teenage sister at their Northridge home nearly five years ago.

The Los Angeles County district attorney's office says Brandon Menard pleaded guilty Thursday to three counts of first-degree murder. He also admitted to a special circumstance allegation of multiple murders and an allegation that he used a firearm in causing the death of his father.

Prosecutors say Menard killed his father, David, a real estate agent, and his mother Toni, a nurse, inside the home. His 16-year-old sister, Ashley, was found dead in the backyard. All of the victims were stabbed multiple times. The father also was shot.

Menard faces three consecutive life terms without parole, plus a term of 25 years to life when he's sentenced next month.
