A man pled no contest Wednesday to charges of hitting and killing two people while intoxicated on Highway 46.
Vincente Montes faced two counts of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and one count of hit and run causing death.
The California Highway Patrol says Montes was driving drunk when he hit and killed a couple from Bakersfield on August 17th.
The CHP says Montes and a passenger ran from the scene, but were later arrested in Shandon.
Montes will be sentenced on October 28th and faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
