Man suffers major injuries after crashing car into tree

A man was taken to the hospital on Sunday after he crashed his car into a tree in Lompoc.
It happened around 12:45 p.m. in the 2200 block of Purisima Road.
The California Highway Patrol says the driver, a man around 50-years-old, was trapped in his car because his door was against the tree.
He was taken to Cottage Hospital with major injuries.
It is not known what caused the crash.
