A Washington man walking across America brought his message of healthy living to Santa Barbara County Thursday.
George Throop started his walk of inspiration four months ago in Washington state and he is heading for Washington D.C.
On Thursday KSBY News caught up with him as he made the 25-mile trek from Santa Maria to Lompoc.
Throop lost his mother to cancer when she was just 33 years old. He says he is now determined to promote disease prevention and help others lead healthier lifestyles.
"What I'm aiming for is the whole preventative message, what we can do in our everyday lives the sort of steps that we can take forward to improve our everyday health standards," said Throop.
Throop's next stop is Santa Barbara. He hopes to reach the White House on June 18.

ha, I seen him as well; walking with a lady that appeared to be his wife as I was exiting a parking-lot in Santa Barbara. I have always thought about "driving" across the states but to walk is pretty cool!
