LOS ANGELES (AP) - Authorities say a man who attacked a Los Angeles police officer during an attempted traffic stop in Beverly Hills will be charged with attempted murder of a peace officer.
City News Service reports the officer, an eight-year motorcycle veteran, is recovering at home Wednesday after being treated at a hospital for shoulder and hand injuries.
Police say the confrontation with the suspect, which was captured on at least two smartphone cameras, occurred around Tuesday on Wilshire Boulevard after a traffic stop.
The Los Angeles Times reports the suspect had a headlock on the officer and punched him.
Although the incident happened within Beverly Hills, the LAPD is handling the investigation because one of its officers was involved.
