Marian Medical Center is 'pumped' about heart health.
Community members were invited to the Santa Maria campus Wednesday to help kick off American Heart Month by taking a tour through a 10-foot tall, 21-foot long, and 15-foot wide replica of the human heart.
People learned about cardiovascular functions, heart disease and the latest medical treatments for heart problems.
" The people who learn to stay healthy, learn to eat right, exercise learn to have healthy life styles will prevent themselves from getting heart disease," said Dr. Chuck Merrill, V.P. for Medical Affairs at Marian Medical.
Heart disease is the number one cause of death for men and women in the U.S.
