Two Warriors and one Brave were honored as Athletes of the Week by the Northern Santa Barbara County Athletic Round Table in Orcutt on Monday afternoon.
Lompoc High track and field star Brittany Boluson was named Female Athlete of the Week. The junior won four events last week in the Braves' 82-49 win over Templeton. It marked the second-straight week Boluson won four events.
Last week against the Eagles, she won the high jump at 4-4, the triple jump at 31-7.5 and the long jump at 15-8. She also ran a leg in the victorious 4x100 relay team.
"It was more of an easier meet but there was a lot of wind and it was messing up my mark a lot. But I still pulled it through," said Boluson, who's still hoping to qualify for CIF in the individual events.
Righetti swimmers Keanu Martinez and Jeremy Grden earned Co-Male Athlete of the Week honors after they both won two individual events in the Warriors' huge 169-117 league win over San Luis Obispo, the twelve-time defending Pac 7 League champion.
"We did really good. We beat SLO by a lot more than we thought we were going to," said Martinez, who won the 200 IM in 2:02.09 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:04.26. "In the end, we knew we pretty much had the win, but we still went for it."
Grden finished first in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.15 seconds. He also touched the wall first in the 100 free at 48.45 seconds. "For me I'm a sprinter so I'm nervous because if you mess up one small thing you're getting third instead of first and it's always nerve racking before your event," said Grden.
Righetti battles Atascadero in another league dual and swims in the Santa Barbara County meet later this week.
Both Martinez and Grden led the Warriors to the Pac 7 League title and CIF runner-up finish during the water polo season.
