Hundreds of people were given free flu vaccines in San Luis Obispo County Sunday as part of an annual drill.

The San Luis Obispo County public health department offered two mass flu shot clinics Sunday. One in Pismo Beach and one in Atascadero.

In addition to getting people vaccinated, the clinic was also getting public health employees ready in the event of a real health emergency.

"It's very important in a severe pandemic or in a biological emergency, if we need to vaccinate or medicate the population in a very short period of time, we're ready to do that," Emergency Prepardeness Program Manager Michelle Soresman said.

The clinic was a rapid test for employees.
