Masutani, Godfrey score All-State Softball honors

Cuesta College softball shortstop Kryn Masutani and Atascadero High graduate Briget Godfrey received All-State recognition from the California Community College Athletics Assocation.

Masutani won the Western State Conference's triple crown. She paced the league with a .535 batting average, 13 home runs and 68 RBI. She set program record single-season marks for the home runs, RBI along with her 21 doubles. She led the league with a .565 on-base percentage, 1.055 slugging percentage and 68 hits. The Hawaii native led the state this season with 68 RBI.

Cuesta finished the season 12-6 and tied for third in conference an 20-19 overall.

Godfrey is a sophomore second baseman for College of Sequoias. She finished fifth in the state with a .541 batting average. The Atascadero High graduate led the state with 73 hits and 63 runs scored.

11th seeded Sequoias battles 6th seeded Cabrillo in the first round of the regional playoffs this weekend.
