Mathias out on Tuesday, doubtful for weekend

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The Cal Poly baseball team will be without sophomore Mark Mathias for their mid-week game at Pepperdine on Tuesday night. Mathias suffered a leg injury in the Mustangs 1-0 loss to Long Beach St. on Sunday.

The Fremont, California native has been arguably Cal Poly's most consistent offensive player this season. Mathias leads the Mustangs in batting average (.393) and runs scored (38). He already has multiple hitting streaks that have spanned atleast 10 games.

Mathias - who is one of just three Cal Poly players who have appeared in all 43 games this season - is doubtful for Cal Poly's weekend series at UC Riverside, though he hasn't yet been officially ruled out.

The sophomore had x-rays done today, but the team won't know the results until Tuesday.
