Matt Ortman to assume help at Villa San-Juliette Winery

Matt Ortman, previously of Ortman Family Vineyards, has been named Winemaker for the recently-opened Villa San-Juliette Vineyard & Winery in San Miguel. The 168-acre country vineyard and accompanying Tuscan-style villa was just completed late last year and is owned by the producers of T.V. shows American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance. They say Ortman was handpicked from hundreds of applicants, and that his wines won them over when they won in a blind tasting of more than 20 Cabernet Sauvignons.

Matt will be announced at a reception at Villa San-Juliette this afternoon. He says he's excited about the opportunity to take the helm there and to "craft exceptional wines of depth, character and sophistication under the VSJ Label".
