Two local mayoral races are getting more interesting by the minute. Here are the latest results in the race for San Luis Obispo City Mayor.
The race widened a bit in favor of Jan Marx. She now leads by 298 votes. Yesterday, she and Paul Brown had just 277 votes between them. The winner will replace Mayor Dave Romero, who has led the city for the past eight years. Looking at percentages, Marx leads with 44.79 percent, with Brown close behind at 42.69 percent.
In Morro Bay, the race to become mayor is getting closer. The city's former mayor, William Yates, is ahead of City Council Member Betty Winholtz by a slim margin of just 57 votes. Yesterday, Yates led by just 65 votes. That brings the percentage for Yates to 50.2 against Winholtz's 48.94 percent.
The San Luis Obispo County Clerk's Office expects to finalize results in both the Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo mayoral races sometime next week as ballots are still trickling in.
