McNally trial expected to last more than a week

Santa Barbara County prosecutors expect the second murder trial for a former Lompoc prison guard to last ten days. Timothy McNally is charged with second degree murder for shooting another prison guard, Gary Bent, in a Lompoc hotel room in March of 2012. Bent was in town for training. Prosecutors say McNally shot him while they were both drinking at the hotel. McNally claims it was an accident. Bent was found dead with a single gunshot wound to the neck. In April, a jury couldn't reach a verdict in the case. A new trial has been set for September 9th.
