THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) - Dutch media are reporting that a cargo ship is sinking after a collision in the North Sea and that a rescue operation is under way.

National broadcaster NOS says the Baltic Ace, with a crew of around 23, was transporting cars to Finland when it is believed to have collided with a container ship near Rotterdam on Wednesday night.

A Coast Guard spokesman was not immediately available for comment.

NOS reports that the Coast Guard has dispatched rescue boats to the scene, about 80 kilometers (50 miles) off the coast of the southern Netherlands.

No further details were immediately available.
