New research suggests a Mediterranean-style diet is beneficial to young, working Americans.
The diet is rich in fish, nuts, fruits, and veggies.
Previous studies show it lowers cardiovascular risks, but most of those studies only looked at older adults with health problems.
This time, researchers analyzed data on a group of young firefighters
Researchers found firefighters who followed the diet closely were 35 percent less likely to have metabolic syndrome and 43 percent less likely to gain weight than those who didn't follow the diet.
