Will Mehring scored 20 points in his season debut to lead the Templeton boys basketball team to a 59-28 home victory over Valley Christian Academy on Thursday night.
The Eagles improved to 6-8 after the non-league victory. VCA dropped to 8-4 overall.
Mehring, a 6-5 junior, scored 20 points to go with his 8 rebounds. Andy Garretson added 10 points and 9 rebounds, while Jackson Wheeler tallied 8 points and 7 assists.
Templeton returns to action next Wednesday at Morro Bay in a Los Padres League game.
