LOS ANGELES (AP) - Prosecutors say two men videotaped beating and kicking another motorist after stopping traffic to brawl on Interstate 5 have pleaded not guilty to assault.
City News Service reports 21-year-old David Mendez and 27-year-old Edras Ramirez entered their pleas Friday. They are each charged with assault with a deadly weapon - their feet.
The two are accused of repeatedly kicking 49-year-old Jerry Patterson in the head after he'd fallen to the ground.
The June 12 assault was captured on video by another motorist.
In the video, the men are seen fighting. Patterson is thrown to the pavement and then kicked in the head.
Mendez and Ramirez surrendered to authorities June 20 after the video went viral.
Patterson has also pleaded not guilty to assault charges in a similar, separate incident.
