World Health Organization officials say the spike in MERS cases the Middle East experienced during April seems to have decreased, and there is no evidence of sustained human-to-human transmission.
WHO officials say there need to be more efforts to contain the illness in healthcare settings.
Plans are being made to prevent the spread of MERS at the Hajj, an annual pilgrimage to Mecca.
An estimated 11,000 Americans will make the trip this October.
