Middle school teacher who appeared in porn, fights for job

OXNARD, Calif. (AP) - A panel of judges has begun hearings for a former Oxnard School District teacher who is appealing her firing after administrators discovered she'd performed in pornography.
The Ventura County Star reports (http://bit.ly/RSkSmr ) 32-year-old Stacie Halas appeared before an administrative law judge and other appointees Monday to fight for her job teaching eighth-grade science at Haydock Intermediate School.
An attorney representing the school district says Halas lied to officials repeatedly about being in explicit videos, even after students discovered them online.
Halas says she didn't star in porn movies while she was a teacher, and only took parts during an eight-month period from 2005 to 2006 because of financial problems.
In a closed session Monday, five students gave testimony. Other witnesses are expected to give testimony in coming days.
