Vandenberg Air Force Base officials say a Minuteman III missile scheduled to launch Tuesday morning has been delayed.
Officials say the launch of the unarmed missile is postponed until Wednesday morning because of a range safety instrumentation issue.
It will travel 4,200 miles across the Pacific, and is one in a series of periodic launches to ensure the intercontinental missile force is reliable.
Last month, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel postponed a test launch from Vandenberg because of concern it could be misinterpreted and worsen relations with North Korea.
Vandenberg officials say this is the first Minuteman III launch for the base this year.
