Missing Atascadero hiker found safe

The Atascadero man who was reported missing after he did not return from a weekend hiking trip has been found, according to the
San Luis Obispo Sheriff's office.

Deputies say Richard Gates, 44, was found Monday around 2:00 p.m. Gates who left his house around 6:30 Saturday morning to go hiking near Ragged Point was reported missing after he did not return.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Unit began their search around 6 p.m. Sunday to look for Gates.
