The Mission Prep boys basketball team is busy preparing for Saturday's CIF-Southern Section championship game. Off the court, the Royals are the newly crowned top ranked team in the state.

Wednesday, Cal Hi Sports released its newest State Boys Basketball Divisional Rankings. The Royals climbed from 8th to 1st this week in the Division 5 State Rankings.

The website cited the team's recent semifinal win over Flintridge Prep and previous top-ranked Village Christian's loss to Buckey as reasons for the change. Flintridge beat Buckley earlier this season.

Mission is 23-7 this season and riding a ten game winning streak into Saturday's Division 5AA title game against Buckley. Tip off is set for 3:30 pm at Mater Dei High in Santa Ana.

The Royals are searching for their first CIF title since 2004 and first Southern Section title since 1989.
