There are many symbols people associate with Christmas. But nomatter, your faith or religion, some local residents we talked with on Christmas say it's important to remember the true meaning of this holiday season. Dozens packed Mission San Luis Obispo for a traditional Christmas mass. They sang songs, prayed and heard a touching message.
Skip Thompson attended the mass. He said, "This is the unique time of year that seems to be the great gift that we all recognize. God's gift through mankind."
Some there told us they hope that message will cross religious lines and people will remember it's also about helping others. They say it's especially about making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate. Richard Lopez also attended the mass. He said, "The true meaning of Christmas Central Coast is to love one another. It isn't about all the jingle bells, Santa Claus and the presents. It's about loving your neighbor." They also say this season of celebration is meant to bring together those who mean the most to us. Spencer Sterling, attended mass, said, "It's a good time getting together with family and friends and just getting to appreciate having family."
