Monday is Columbus Day.
The Post Office is closed, as well as banks and many state, federal, and local government offices.
School is still in session in some districts. Check with your school if you're not sure.
Columbus Day became a federal holiday in 1937.
It commemorates the landing of Christopher Columbus in the New World on October 12, 1492.
