Moore's goal delivers 1-0 win for Cal Poly over UC Davis

Nolan Moore's first goal of the season in the 26th minute proved to be the game-winner in the Cal Poly men's soccer team's 1-0 win in a Big West Conference game over UC Davis on Tuesday night at Alex G. Spanos Stadium.

Cal Poly junior midfielder George Malki fired in a shot that was stopped, but not hauled in by UC Davis keeper Omar Zeenni. Moore, a junior midfielder, raced to the loose ball and pounded his shot to the back of the net.

Freshman goalkeeper Wade Hamilton recorded 4 saves in goal to preserve the shutout for the Mustangs, the first in his collegiate career. The Mustangs improved to 3-2-1 in conference and 8-5-1 overall. The Mustangs kept pace with rival UCSB, the Gauchos blanked first place Sacramento State 2-0 on Tuesday to remain in a tie for third place with Cal Poly.

Sacramento State is 4-1-1 in conference with 13 points. UC Davis fell to 4-2-0 in second place with 12 points. The Mustangs and Gauchos are tied for third with 10 points headed into Friday's Blue-Green Rivalry game at Harder Stadium. The match will be televised live on Fox Soccer Channel at 8pm.

The Aggies outshot the Mustangs 15-9. They took 11 shots in the second half, including one in the 58th minute from Josh Joslin that hit off the cross bar and bounced away.
