More bodies recovered, cargo workers arrested

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) - Better weather and calmer ocean currents have helped divers recover more bodies from the sunken South Korean ferry. The bodies of 12 more passengers were found today, raising the death toll to 260, with 42 people still missing.

A spokesman for the emergency task force says divers have been working their way into the last three unopened rooms, next to a snack bar on the ferry's third floor.

Investigators, meanwhile, have arrested three people who weren't on board the ferry when it sank. The employees are suspected of negligence in their handling of cargo. Improper stowing and overloading of cargo is suspected as a possible reason the ferry sank last month.

In all, 19 people have been arrested in the investigation, including 15 crew members accused of abandoning passengers.

Today is a South Korean holiday -- Children's Day -- but various events were canceled or postponed because of the sinking.
