A product that could be in your home was to blame for the death of an Atascadero woman earlier this summer, and now, more companies step forward with similar recalls.
Back in July an Atascadero woman's family told KSBY News their grandmother died after a gel fuel explosion. The product is called Napa Home and Garden Gel fuel, and it was recalled nationwide after at least 37 explosions, some deadly. Now, 10 companies have announced they are recalling gel fuel.
The companies recalling gel fuel are: Bird Brain Inc. of
Ypsilanti, Mich.; Bond Manufacturing of Antioch, Calif.; Sunjel Company of Milwaukee; Fuel Barons Inc. of Lake Tahoe, Nev.; Lamplight Farms Inc, of Menomonee Falls, Wis.; Luminosities Inc. of St. Paul, Minn.; Marshall Group of Elkhart, Ind.; Pacific Decor Ltd. of Woodinville, Wash.; Real Flame of Racine, Wis.; Smart Solar USA of Oldsmar, Fla.
In total two million bottles and jugs of gel fuel used in outdoor decorations known as firepots are being taken off store shelves because of the risk of serious burns.
