The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office says 22-year-old Clifford Albert Scott. Jr. was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail for the alleged attempted murder of a CHP officer early Saturday morning.
It began when CHP initiated a traffic stop traveling on Highway 101 north towards Paso Robles. Police say a chase ensued until the suspect's car crashed in downtown Paso Robles. According to deputies, a gunfight followed as the suspect fled on foot. Both the CHP officer, who's name has not yet been released, and the suspect were hit. The officer is 30 years old and a six-year veteran with Templeton CHP. The officer has been released from the hospital and is recovering from his injuries. The Sheriff's Office says the officer remains on paid administrative leave until the investigation into the incident is finished.
